Event Details

It’s not your typical walk!
The 7th Annual Light the Night for Sight…Come walk with us is a picnic and walk that also focuses on eye safety education by emphasizing safe ways to protect your eyes. Our walking route will have educational booths regarding eye health for all ages, animal eye safety, fireworks safety, and sight related games!

Why: A fun fundraiser where both kids and adults learn the importance of eye safety for themselves and their animal family members. Walkers also make several stops learning about the eyes of those sitting behind the glass. Or just enjoy a night at the zoo with co-workers or your family.

When: June 29, 2005 beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the Zoo Terrace Picnic area. Enjoy a picnic dinner with soda, walk around the Zoo and end with a fabulous ice cream sundae!

Where: Milwaukee County Zoo. The picnic and walk will be held in conjunction with a Zoofari night. Walk participants can enjoy staying at the zoo later than the average bear!

Entry fee: Team cost is $80.00 per team. A team must be a minimum of 5 individuals. Additional members will be $10 each.

Other Entry fees: Adults-$20 Children-$5 Families-$50 (two children under the age of 12 and two adults).

Prizes:Walkers can possibly win packages for Wisconsin Dells, Milwaukee Brewers, State Fair, Festa Italiana, and Betty Brinn’s Children’s Museum, depending on the amount of donations received.

It is a fun event to benefit Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, get some exercise, learn something new and support our free vision services all at the same time!

Walkers are encouraged to collect donations from family, friends, and co-workers.

Prevent Blindness Wisconsin

For 50 years, Prevent Blindness Wisconsin has pursued its mission to prevent blindness and preserve sight. The agency provides free vision screenings to preschool children, school age children, and adults. It also provides public and professional education in vision health, safety, and vision loss prevention.

Prevent Blindness Wisconsin is the only non profit organization in the state providing theses services.  Since 1958 Prevent Blindness Wisconsin has screened more than 5 million children and over 230,000 adults. Prevent Blindness Wisconsin receives no government money, and relies entirely on the public and business community for support of its sight saving services.
